The Clayton i-house is no longer in production or available, but if you read other posts on this blog, the i-house was mainly my start, a pretext to voice my opinions, dreams and vision for manufactured housing of the future. ---------------------------- Here is a link to a 2017 Palm Harbor singlewide, "The Santa Fe," which has a stylish and fresh interior, yet the exterior is nothing special. I could go blind from looking at dozens of photos of bland or ugly singlewides, before I see one with a main living area like this. It is beautiful.
My shaky video, link to still photos, and review of the well-made and well-insulated $53,000 Karsten SF50 single-wide is HERE. Karsten has a couple of their latest (2006-2007) single-wides on their lot and I will do a post on them on my newer blog, Greenotter's Manufactured Home Reviews.
And if this is your first visit, and you are curious about the defunct i-house, you can see my reviews, video and photos of the Clayton i-house HERE.

During the short time it was in production, the i-house was being manufactured in five locations:
Knoxville, TN; Ridgefield, NC; Albuquerque, NM; Hermiston, OR; and Sacramento, CA. Models will be coming to many more locations in the next months.

I started blogging the Clayton i-house starting in Oct. 2008, before it was in production. I'm not employed by Clayton, or any manufacturer or dealer, just interested in everything about Clayton's first widely available green manufactured home, which is now out of production.
Unfortunately, the mortgage meltdown housing crisis struck, and between the higher price and the unique look of the i-house, it didn't sell.
After selling a dozen or two at most, Clayton no longer produces the i-house and calls it a "concept" house, an experiment used to gauge what people want in newer features of manufactured homes.
My other interests include sustainable housing, the Solar Decathlon, and trailers in general. I'm a trailer nut, but don't live in one. Maybe in a few years I will.
